I have no in-depth opinion on Shogun2, it's the Total War I played the least (its just the time period that I haven't been in the mood for), though what I have played it is a fine game. By the time your family has grown significantly, in practice, you only focus on a handful of your best generals while the rest stay in cities as governors or as cheap suicide cavalry they could not all have their own army because that would cripple your economy. It is Rome 1's appendix, there for show and serves no real purpose. Naval battles need balancing but I'd rather have them then not have them, this alone puts it leagues ahead of Rome 1, though obviously they lack the preciseness or grace of Empire's naval combat.Р В РІР‚СњР В РІР‚РЋamily system is completely and utterly redundant and doesn't really fit Rome 2's setting, I have yet to understand why this feature seems to be missed. While I agree that most AIs are passive (though probably for good reason), I was attacked several times, particularly by the Spanish/Iberians, in my initial campaign as the Gauls. Rome 2's diplomacy is gutted? Compared to what? The only thing missing from Rome 2's diplomacy (that I miss anway) is the ability to swap territory diplomatic marriages as found in Shogun 2 would not fit the context of Rome 2's ancient world. Honestly I feel like you're playing a completely different game.

To me, i very much enjoy it./r/Games is for informative and interesting gaming content and discussions. I wish other total war games had this much attension like Empire or perhaps even Shogun 2, since Avatar Conquest has now been modded with players cheating and adding impossible stats.

These new patches also expand future modding capabilities I wouldn't have been able to do my Aging / Advancing / Acclimatising General mods if it weren't for them for example (Patch 18 managed to fix the Age / Rank / Season variant appearance swapping tables in the pack files).' If it weren't for the latest few patches we got since November 2017, we wouldn't have had the new political system / family tree, new graphical features, better naval gameplay and more. It is bad for the short-term, but in the long-term it is good for the game and for mods.
